Biography for Cheyney Teagan

Cheyney Teagan is an Austin-based performer, musician, teacher, and event producer specializing in Egyptian Raqs Sharqi (bellydance) and American-Style Bellydance.

Cheyney is known for her technical ability, musicality in dancing, and interactions with her audience. She is remembered for being “full of zest and joyous energy,” because Community and connections with people are at the heart of her dance practice. 

Cheyney proudly holds performer residencies with several local Austin restaurants and companies, as well as a full schedule of wedding, corporate, and private events. 

Outside of the Bellydance world, Cheyney leads Teagan’s Follies, an era-specific dance company showcasing “jollies for the fool-hardy:” dazzling costuming and captivating performances in an over-the-top theatrical dance production.

When not dancing, Cheyney enjoys crafting, spending time with her family & fur babies, and creating safe spaces with fair-paying wages for movement-based artists.
